personal Desire vs people's Need

all these blog posts of eating, of travelling, and of fun fun fun doesn't mean the weekdays are smooth sailing, the workload diminishes, or the burden lightens.. doesn't mean there's no sleepless nights, tired body or aching muscles.. doesn't mean there's no anger and frustration, or headaches and heartaches..

its already a challenge to be away from home, what more to take over the role of the Head. and all i hear is 'Responsibility is Yours'... 'Accountability is Yours'... 'Anything etc You have to Answer for it' ..

managing people, managing money, managing an organization.. personal desire takes the back seat. how is one able to think of family, relationships or the future when today's problem can't even be solved?

pushing oneself ahead gets tougher each day as a small encouragement like a positive comment is scarce, even close to nonexistent.

during a State level event today, i met the state medical matron (from HQ, Kuching) who i talked with about the community services i joined back in Kuching as she was active in these.

" Do join more community services in Kuching, we need more dentists.." she said, but i told her there are many dentists in Kuching now.

"Come back to Kuching.." she continued.. and to my surprise my own dental matron who was listening on suddenly appeared and interrupted us.

"We Need her here.. Limbang Needs her here," she said as she pulled me away.. i did not even manage to finish my conversation with the state matron.

Yes, i do know i am needed here, but to actually hear it from someone else.. to be acknowledged in front of people is a totally different thing altogether.

Kuching has easily more than 30 dentists in the government sector, and not to include the dental clinic bosses and dental specialists, what more the mushrooming private dental clinics.

Limbang district, as of now as i sit here, has only ONE dentist, me, with no private dentist (i have a colleague who took a sudden holiday) and there will be times, weeks in fact (like the coming Raya holidays), that i would be the Only dentist in the whole division, 1/11th of this large state. its like being the only dentist in one of the states in West Malaysia.

i do Want to go home, its my personal desire... but as for now.. Limbang Needs me here, so with all the courage and energy i have left squeezed out of me, i do what i can for this place. i can feel the need for me to be here greatly, to do something for the people here especially in the dental aspect, but it won't be for long as soon personal Needs, (no, not personal Desire), would have to take the front seat...

meanwhile i pray that i can cope with whatever challenges that come along the way, be it stress, sabotage, badmouthing and gossiping, gang-ups, hatred, anger, laziness, disrespect, uncooperativeness, carelessness, ignorance or just plain menace... i hope people around me, regardless of whether its those under me, or those higher than me, would not trample too hard or too long on my sincere trying self..

my motto now.. just give your best and leave the rest to God...

Short Miri Weekend Escape

i took advantage of the weekend before to enjoy Miri before my meetings the following weekdays.

had lunch in Citrus located at a corner near the Waterfront

tried the pizza with everything (rm22), waffles and brownie. there's lots of stuff on the pizza but not enough cheese, the waffles ok but the choc brownie is not chocolaty enough

check into Grand Palace, 4-star hotel (everywhere is full this weekend as its Zee Avi's concert!) oh well, holidaying with style i guess

then its shopping time at Bintang Mall.. Merdeka Mall.. Imperial Mall.. whatever mall there is, i've been there

Starbucks green tea with red bean break time

dinner was at Siamese Secrets, Jalan Merbau, which have a nice environment

dim sum breakfast at Grand Palace hotel

yum yum

after another shopping day, its dinner at Sajian Warisan, not far opposite the Post Office behind of Bintang Mall

a very thick menu with lots of options, even has 12 types of nasi lalapan!

therapeutic distressing weekend! time to earn back all that shopping, eating, hotel etc..
thanks for the fun weekend, gals!

The Work & The Play So Far

few weeks ago i went for the Batu Danau Mobile Clinic 6 which is about an hour out for giving a talk followed by dental screening and treatment

towards the end of June my clinic organized an Oral Health Promotion Day for the special kids and also their carers and parents

giving a talk on how to care for their teeth

 colouring competition and prize-giving

 group photo

and the next day, we have a little celebration for Gawai 'Ngiling Bidai' or Tikai (roll up the matt that dries the harvested rice.. a tradition to mark the end of Gawai, similar to our Chap Goh Mei) and Birthdays

photo with the birthday babies of March till Jun

 cutting the cake

eat eat and eat again

then its time to roll the bidai..

..and roll..

..and its rolled up!

time to tie it! Gawai is now officially over, and so is the 1st half of 2012!

alright, 2nd half of 2012, here we come!

Short Kuching Weekend

i had a meeting in Kuching so i managed to come home over the weekend

Friday night chinese dinner at Joo Him Cafe opposite The Atmosphere , which is not far from Spring. the food is ok, the home-made tauhu was not bad with century egg.

claypot meet, seafood kueh tiaw and spring roll for breakfast at Sekama

lunch at Good Times Cafe at Jalan Ang Cheng Ho

fried kueh tiaw with chicken wings and sambal, sarawak laksa and tomato mee.. its ok

i had my family dinner at Richmond Cafe. i didn't know that they have another shoplot now. funny to celebrate Dumpling Festival at a western restaurant. its relatively cheaper here although the food can be abit bland.

 seafood spagetti

 grilled fish

 black pepper chicken chop

 mixed grill

full rack of ribs

next morning i had another dose of laksa and porkie before its off back to Limbang. this is definitely the shortest trip back to Kuching ever from Limbang, to arrive late Friday night and leave not long after breakfast on Sunday. if its not for a meeting, not sure if i would spend more than RM1k for less-than-48-hours home! unless i take a day off.. or get really home sick!

Double Day Trip to Brunei (Gadong 9) & Labuan

seems that end of May before Gawai and the whole of June (and into July too.. *snickers*) is a heavily-travelled season for me.. i can tell from my bank account, my weight and my endless blog posts..and i won't complain (YET)

its just that i was so busy travelling AND working TOO of course that i didn't manage to get down and sort out all these trip photos to blog. like i need a break from having breaks, if you get what i mean.

anyway this weekend i was doing not 1 but 2 day trips, to both Brunei & Labuan.

chicken rice, sarawak laksa and club sandwich at Nurul Cafe. the laksa here is quite nice though more coconut-milky and there's the Rm8 Laksa Banjir.. meaning banjir with lots of prawns!

kampung fried rice and nasi lalapan ayam at Diyana Cafe.. theres one opposite waterfront and another is the hospital canteen itself

and its 4 mornings of back-to-back Kolo Mee (most of it is Kampua mee actually)

Mei Sing's ..which is still the preferred one

Daily Cafe's

one of the stalls upstairs of Pasar Limbang

and the most famous which is next to Rojak Limbang on the ground floor of Pasar Limbang

Saturday we were off to Escapade Sushi Gadong for the Large boat cosing B$100!!! there were 11 of us sharing! its really hugeeee.. perhaps you cant tell how big it is from this top view

this picture should show it.. the length of this big boat is the width of nearly 4 people.

close up view

right view

and we even had more to top up.. one of the sushi with cheese was quite nice

group photo with the pharmacists.. we were celebrate the farewell of one of them

then off to watch Madagascar 3!

on Sunday we are off to Labuan

not many pictures of Labuan as this part of town near the port isn't very scenic, just full of shops
at least there's this

we ate opposite the ferry terminal and i had mee goreng Tuaran (yes yes must have that Tuaran mee!) and actually its not bad as compared to the presentation

and lets not forget why we go to Labuan.. for abit of booze and loads of CHOCOLATES!!!.. well, the logic is since the return ticket costs Rm58, better make full use of the trip!
