On Christmas Day my family went for the morning Christmas church service, followed by dim sum breakfast at Yun Cai, Central Park. my mum knows what i like for breakfast :)

Yun Cai

the dim sums on offer.. there's buy 4 free 1 promotion

the steamed ones

and the fried ones.. we even have Bak Kut Teh as well

after breakfast i went for Christmas visiting at my colleague's house.. and there's the roast turkey and all, really like an English Christmas Open House.. yummies

here's a more modified version, still has turkey but 3-layered pork, rendang, satay, fried noodles etc..

can't believe I've been showered with so many Christmas presents (more than bday pressies) and 8 Christmas cards (2 all the way from UK) this year ...a box of Chocs, a friendship book, a bag charm from Taiwan, 2 pretty bookmarks, Christmas CD, a candy stick and even a gingerbread man with my name on it all the way from KK!

thank you for all the presents... and the cutest must be the gingerbread man with my name.. how am i suppose to eat this thing?

Christmas in Penang 4 - Alor Setar, Kedah

Instead of staying in Penang, i've decided to drop by Kedah as well since i've never been further north than Penang itself.

after more than an hour's drive north we arrived at Alor Setar, Kedah Darul Ehsan!

to meet up with my ex-unimate/flatmate/groupmate etc, yin hui! went around AS sight-seeing for a while as it was already evening

then we had dinner at Times Cafe, looks like a very nice cozy cafe, especially with the London photos!

teriyaki chicken, cordon blue and chicken lumpia! haha anyway, thanks for the the AS sight seeing and dinner treat, YH!

Christmas in Penang 3 - More Indulgences

time to indulge again in Penang

this time at E&O Hotel (eastern & oriental) i heard the executive seafood buffet lunch is a luxury so go give it a try

around the Sarkies restaurant at the basement carpark.. what a weird venue

the hot station with soup noodles etc

roast meat area.. and the grilled seafood with mussels, oysters, prawns, lobsters, salmon, crab etc..

the buffet section.. and the cold seafood section

other random sections

sushi section.. and oysters

and pretty desserts!

more pretty desserts

chocolate fountain and Christmas house (but Pan Pacific's christmas house prettier i think hehe)

fruits and ABC

and the greedy one doesn't have to worry cause she done her uric acid and cholestrol blood test weeks ago..

and had her glucose level checked too! so dig in!

drove over to mainland to meet up with Epl at Starbucks, Juru! thanks for the xmas present!

watched Sherlock Holmes at Gurney that night.. how i wish Limbang has a mall like this!

supper with maggi goreng and telur goreng

Christmas in Penang 2 - Butterflies and Hard Rock

also located at Batu Ferringhi is the famous Hard Rock Hotel Penang. the only other Hard Rock Hotel/Cafe/Restaurant i've been to is in London, once. glad to visit this one, heard that Hard Rock is a hotel with a difference.

looks very rocky and retro indeed, the Beatles seem to be the main theme

around the hotel lobby

the many costumes around the lobby for display

the lobby looks very cozy with huge cushions and the swimming area has a beach theme

with a play area for the kids

view of the hotel from the pool

Hard Rock Cafe for dinner

nachos, seafood spagetti and finger food

salad, macaroni and beef burger.. not bad

outside the hotel

say cheese everyone! thanks for dinner :)

walk along the main streets for the Batu Ferringghi night markets

saw some nice fancy restaurants, one has a camel like its Eygptian or Turkish, there's Golden Thai.. and another is The Ship which has several branches throughout West Malaysia

the menu of The Ship was appetizing, only cause we were looking for dessert, but once we entered i was surprised to see that the place looks really Christmas-y, as if i just walked into one of those Scandinavian restaurants during Christmas!

that night i felt like i was in Europe, without the freezing winter! magical! thanks :)

banana split with 3 flavours of ice cream and vanilla choc chip ice cream cake

seems that dinner at Hard Rock Cafe doesn't count of having experienced Hard Rock Hotel so i had the chance to try the breakfast buffet as well

Pan Pacific Hotel yesterday morning and Hard Rock Hotel this morning... *rubs tummy*

thanks for the breakfast treat at the hotel :)

eat full already have to exercise if off.. not too far away is the Penang Butterfly Farm

the farm isn't very big but there's Lots and Lots of butterflies everywhere! quite magical in a way

good place for photographers or butterfly lovers.. that's the love's swing, i don't know why its called that. and there's this butterfly-shaped feeding place of hibiscus for the butterflies

there's other animals there as well, and exotic plants

camwhore time

more pictures around the place

the indoor part of the farm with lots of paintings, little cinema, photos and more animals (live or preserved)

more photo opportunities

the spider/worm/other animals part of the indoor section, and the hundreds of types of butterflies! i would know some friends who would definitely love the place due to the butterflies!

nice experience dining at Hard Rock (twice!), visiting the Batu Ferringhi night market and dining at The Ship, and being surrounded by butterflies!
